Convertible bonded bracket without distal offset for use in class III cases where class III elastics is the main method to correct the occlusion. The lack of distal offset creates mesial-palatal rotation of the upper molars, favorable when correcting class III dental. The tube can be converted to a bracket to allow for the placement of finishing bends between the first and second molars and/or to engage heavy rectangular archwires to the second molar.

Standard Roth bonded convertible tube (no headgear tube). Torque –10, angulation 0, mesial rotation 8. For use in class I or class II cases. Applies mesial-buccal derotation of the molar, which is favorable for correcting class II malocclusions. The bracket is convertible from a tube to a bracket, but an attempt to remove the plate occasionally results in bond failure. Buccal tubes should be converted when heavy archwires must engage both the 6 and 7, and always at the start of finishing, to avoid the archwire becoming permanent with a bend between the 6-7. With advanced planning, the convertible plate should be removed before bonding in cases where heavy rectangular wires and second molar bonding are expected.
