Saif Springs are used for Class II or Class III applications when patient cooperation is lacking. The springs are fixed into place by crimping the molar ball hook over the circular end, or using a loop of "double twisted" Kobayashi Hook wire (.012) to secure the spring to the anterior segment. The force generated is approximately 500 grams, but will be larger when the mouth is opened. This heavy force will tend to cause bracket debonding and loose bands, so expect a continued battle with your patient. In some cases, Saif Springs are the only method to gain control of the Class II or Class III situation. Long, Heavy 10mm saif springs 12-14oz. (2 per pack)
